Self-Care is a recent concept that passed me by as I struggled as a young mother, a brand-new teacher, and a woman suffering from a mystery illness. Self-care is purposely doing things that will insure your well-being, for your general health and welfare, and joy and happiness that makes your life completely rewarding.
There are basically a few categories of self-care that we can do for ourselves:
1. EMOTIONAL self-care: includes: journaling ,affirmations, spending quality time with loved ones, taking a bubble bath, take a small walk, reading a book, and perhaps going to therapy.
2. PHYSICAL self-care: start an exercise regimen, just move, getting enough sleep, eating regular meals, choosing good healthy meals, avoid lots of processed foods.
3. SPIRITUAL self-care: meditate, listen to a favorite pastor or author, Scripture writing, journaling, using a self-guided planner, spending time in nature, go to church, reach out to others, and Bible study.
